A Canadian man has been charged with breaking into a home in the Mooresville area following an investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrest of Cameron John Walker, 33, of Dorchester, Ontario, in a news release on Tuesday.
On Friday, May 1, ICSO deputies responded to a reported breaking and entering at a residence on Lakeshore Drive near Mooresville, Campbell said.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with a neighbor who reported suspicious activity and signs of possible forced entry on behalf of the owners, who were out of town, according to the news release..
Deputies observed that the rear sliding glass door had been removed from its track. While conducting a protective sweep of the home to ensure no one was inside, deputies discovered evidence of a blood trail throughout the residence. Members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded to process the scene for evidence.
During the ensuing investigation, deputies received additional information about suspicious activity at the home on the night of April 30, according to the news release. Witnesses reported seeing lights on inside the residence and the garage door open. One resident also reported hearing screaming and seeing a male subject acting erratically near the property, the sheriff said.
During the course of the investigation, deputies learned that an attempted breaking and entering had occurred at a second residence on Viewpoint Drive near Mooresville, according to the news release.
The deputies received information about a nearby short-term rental property, where the suspect was believed to be staying, Campbell said. Deputies made contact with a man matching the witness descriptions at that location. He was still wearing the same clothing observed on surveillance footage from the Viewpoint Drive residence, according to the news release.
Walker, who had had injuries consistent with evidence found at the Lakeshore Drive residence, was arrested and charged with felony second-degree burglary and felony attempted breaking and entering. Magistrate Callejas issued a $75,000 secured bond on the charges.
