The South Iredell High Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Drill Team is gearing up for an extraordinary showcase of precision and discipline as they prepare to compete in the prestigious All Service Drill Competition in Daytona Beach, Fla., on May 2-3. This outstanding team, recognized as the 2018 National Marine Corps Drill Champion, has a rich history of excellence and is poised to make an impressive mark at this year’s competition.

The team recently demonstrated remarkable skill and teamwork by securing second place at the National Marine Corps Drill Championship held in April. The team earned several awards, including first place for Inspection and Armed Exhibition, and third place for Armed Regulation, Armed Commanders and Unarmed Commanders. This impressive achievement emphasizes their dedication, practice, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

“Finishing second in such a competitive environment showcases the hard work our cadets have put in,” said MSgt. Michael E. Fisher, the drill team’s commanding officer. “We are more determined than ever to bring home the gold at the All Service Drill Competition, where we’ll be competing against the best of the best from all branches of the military.”

Having already established itself as a national contender, the South Iredell JROTC Drill Team will enter the Daytona competition not only with skill but also with a strong spirit of camaraderie—a hallmark of their training. Under the guidance of their dedicated instructor and the support of their community, the cadets have been practicing tirelessly, honing their routines, and developing their leadership and teamwork skills.

The All Service Drill Competition is known for its rigorous standards and competitive atmosphere. Teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard will gather to showcase their drilling prowess, competing in categories such as unarmed drill, armed drill, and color guard. The importance of this event cannot be understated, as it provides cadets the opportunity to represent their school and community on a national stage.
