Statesville FC will be looking to break a three-match losing streak when it returns to action on Saturday evening at Statesville High School.

The Herd is coming off a disappointing performance over the weekend, when it dropped a 2-0 decision against the Bristol Rhythm.

In a match that was close on the stat sheet, Bristol broke through in the 73rd minute when a deflection off Rhythm striker Nathan Booth’s foot found the net.

Seven minutes later, after Bristol’s James Baku was fouled in the box, Elliott Edwards converted a penalty kick to give the Rhythm a 2-0 lead that held up until the final whistle.

It was another frustrating match for Statesville FC, which has been solid on defense and showed steady improvement in the midfield through its first three matches, but has tallied only one score as its attacks have stalled out in the final third.

Bristol had five shots on goal, and Statesville had four. The Herd continued to dominate the stat sheet in one area, racking up 20 fouls. Bristol had 13.
