There’s still time to get your tickets for the highly anticipated sixth annual Robert Burns Night.
The Historic Sharpe House will host the celebration of Scotland’s national poet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Statesville Event Center. This year’s event will be held in memory of the late Lisa McBroom.
In keeping with the history of the house, a painting of Fort Dobbs has been donated for the silent auction by renowned artist and Iredell County native Tony Griffin. The granddaughters of Silas Alexander Sharpe were instrumental in saving the French and Indian War site by forming the Fort Dobbs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The painting was inspired by Griffin’s visit to the fort during a re-enactment event. McBroom definitely would have loved the purple hat.
