Special to IFN

Troutman native and two-time Grammy Award winner Jim Lauderdale will be featured in the next episode of PBS North Carolina’s music series “Shaped by Sound.”

A Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, Lauderdale has built a career spanning nearly four decades, with 38 albums released and more on the way. His sound blending church hymns, bluegrass, country, and Rock ’n’ roll has topped country charts and earned top honors from the Americana Music Association. Lauderdale has collaborated with legends like Robert Hunter of the Grateful Dead and continues to mentor emerging artists while leading his band, The Game Changers.

This episode, airing April 16, features a live studio performance and an intimate conversation with Lauderdale as he reflects on the influences that shaped his music, from his upbringing in Troutman to writing for country music icons. He explores themes of hope, collaboration, and the joy of continuing to learn and evolve after decades in the spotlight.
