On Saturday, May 9, the annual U.S. Postal Service Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive demonstrated the incredible generosity and compassion of our community.
Through the hard work and dedication of the Statesville Post Office employees, volunteers, and local residents, an amazing 7,667 pounds of food was collected to help support families facing food insecurity in our area.
Iredell Christian Ministries Executive Director Brandi Jones said the nonprofit is blessed and grateful to receive these donations. Every can, box, and bag of food represents hope for a neighbor in need and serves as a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together in faith and love to care for one another, she said.
“As the need for food assistance continues to grow, events like Stamp Out Hunger make a tremendous impact on our ability to serve local families with dignity and compassion,” Jones explained in a news release. “These donations will help stock our pantry shelves and provide nourishment to individuals, children, and seniors throughout our community.”
Iredell Christian Ministries extended its gratitude to Robin Summers at the Statesville Post Office, the mail carriers who worked tirelessly to collect donations along their routes, and every person who gave so generously.
“Your kindness reflects God’s love in action and reminds us that even small acts of giving can make a life-changing difference,” Jones said. “Together, through faith, service, and community support, we can continue bringing hope to those in crisis and sharing the love of Christ with our neighbors.”
