Mr. Sammy Ferguson Jr. was born on January 9, 1945, in Sumter, S.C., the son of the late Tom and Mary Stewart Ferguson. He passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. He was united in married to Georgia Louise Scott Ferguson, who survives, for 54 years.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his loving wife Georgia; his children, Dwight (Christy) Scott, Eddie (April) Scott, James Scott, also his caregiver, all of Statesville, and Wendy Ferguson White of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Joseph (Maggie) Ferguson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Rebecca Ferguson of Winston-Salem; brothers-in-law, William (Dorothy) Scott and Robert (Mary Frances) Scott, both of Cleveland, and Willie Everhart of Statesville; special care giver Sylvia Brown; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Cameron Presbyterian. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church. Reverend Timothy Bates will officiate and burial will follow at the Belmont Cemetery.
