Mr. Alonzo Burton Jr. of 1013 Wall Street, Statesville, N.C., departed this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville. He was born in Iredell County on February 1, 1945, and was the son of the late Alonzo Burton Sr. and Sarah Mae Summers Hardy Burton. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Evelyn Kutteh Houser Burton, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bishop Walter Burton, Ray Hardy, Howard Burton, Mark Burton, Thomas Burton, and Thurmon Burton; a sister, Margaret Burton; brother-in-law, Wade Franklin Tomlin; and sister-in-law, Nancy Phyllis Houser;

He leaves to remember his life one son, Wesley O’Brian (Angela) Burton of Virginia Beach, Va.; one daughter, Kimberly Burton of the home; brothers, William Burton and Spencer Burton, both of Statesville; sisters, Sarah Burton, Betty Burton, Mary Burton (Bishop Daniel) Horton, and Hazel (Samuel) Young, all of Statesville; two brothers-in-law, Donnie (Paulette) Houser of Hampton, Va., and William “Billie” Parker of Statesville; one sister-in-law, Barbara (Willie) Bellamy of Statesville; grandchildren, Kenyetta Burner of Statesville, Brian Turner of Lenoir, N.C., Shamika Turner of Virginia Beach, Va., Shawn Mathis and Jessica Jackson of Statesville, Wesley Burton Jr. and Antion Burton, both of Virginia Beach, Va., Nigel Anderson of Shreveport, La., and Isaiah Burton and Kendell Turner, both of Statesville; great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors, church family, and friends.

Graveside Services will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2020, at 2 p.m. at The Belmont Cemetery. Bishop Daniel Horton will officiate. General Public viewing will be Saturday, January 2, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
