David Wayne Barringer, 56, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at his home. Born in Iredell County on June 16, 1963, he was the son of the late Horace Anthony Barringer and Olean Speaks Barringer.

He was a dedicated employee of L. Gordon Iron & Metal for 38 years. He dearly loved his family and friends. He had such a huge heart and love for others, and he always looked for opportunities to help everyone.

David never met a stranger. He was such a character and truly one of a kind. He always championed for the underdog and believed in second chances in life. He established and organized the annual L. Gordon Iron & Metal Memorial Golf Classic for the benefit of the Boys & Girls Club of the Piedmont. He loved to play golf, go to the beach, dance, sing, and watch sports. He was a fan of the Chiefs and racing. He was most proud of his granddaughter, Rylee. He touched the lives of so many people, and he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Brittany Williams (Darren); a granddaughter, Rylee Williams; two sisters, Cynthia Hall and Judy Hager (Bobby); and his fiancé, Correna Wilcox. Also surviving are two nephews, Willis Hall and Judson Hall.

Services celebrating David’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
