James “Jimmy” Edward McLean, 72, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 24, 1947, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Webb and Violet Cook McLean. Mr. McLean retired from the Mooresville Police Department after 30 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Ann McLean; and niece, Abigail McLean.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Joyce Freeze McLean; brothers, Richard McLean and wife Judith, and Ronald McLean and partner, Carl Myrick; sister-in-law, Faye Freeze; nieces, Gretchen McLean, Jennifer Freeze; great niece and nephew, Carson and Maclean Bridges; and his beloved fury friends, Sparky and Violet.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service at Vanderburg United Methodist Church Cemetery.
