Sarah Collins Hoover, 86, of Troutman, N.C., passed away Monday, December 21, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Hoover was born December 10, 1934, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Alva Davis Collins and Callie Clark Collins. She was a graduate of Troutman High School and was married to the late James Gray Hoover. Together, they were members of Troutman Baptist Church, where she was a dedicated Preschool Sunday School teacher.

She is survived by three children, Tony Hoover and wife Mary Jane of Statesville, Dennis Hoover and wife Joy of Statesville, and Becky Ladd and husband Garry Sr. of Statesville; seven grandchildren, Andy Hoover, Kelli Eggers, Sarah Beth Rogers, Casey Hoover, Callie Hampton, Amy Ladd, and Garry Ladd Jr.; and eight great grandchildren. She previously worked and retired from Walmart.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, R. Lee Collins, Parks Collins, and Jimmy Collins, and three sisters, Louise Tucker, Hazel Lail and Rachel Collins.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020, at Iredell Memorial Gardens with Pastor John Stevenson officiating. Mrs. Hoover will lie in state on Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date at Troutman Baptist Church.
