James “Randy” Tolbert, 69, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born November 9, 1951 in Hickory, N.C., he was the son of the late James Everette Tolbert and Betty Lucille “Cindy” Floyd.

Randy served his country as a Navy Seaman and after discharge began a career in the IT field working for IBM and Delhaize America. Randy was actively involved in the Special Olympics community and most recently coached bocce ball and bowling with Special Olympics Lake Norman. He participated in fun competitive bowling leagues over the past 40 years, loved taking trips to Disney World with his daughter Kim, and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Randy was a man with a big heart and quick wit that was guaranteed to make everyone around him laugh and smile. He will be missed by his family and community but has laid a great foundation for future generations.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Pamela White Tolbert.

Randy is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Tolbert of Mooresville and Erin Gilson (Ron) of Charlotte; sisters, Betty Jean Mauldin of Vale and Amy Lowe of Hickory; and grandchildren Ryan and Cali Gilson.

The family has chosen to delay services at this time. A future celebration to honor his life will be scheduled at a later date.
