Rees Mahone Cooper, 50, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021. He was born on January 24, 1971, in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Dr. Tim and Susan Rees Cooper Jr.

Rees was a member at Mecklenburg Community Church. He enjoyed going to play golf at the Birkdale Golf Course with his son every weekend. During the Panthers football season, Rees would always be the first one up and ready to head to the Panthers Stadium so that he and his family could spend the Sunday together cheering them on. He also enjoyed vacations with the family. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University.

He was a loving husband, father, friend to many and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Turpin Cooper; daughter, Haleigh Nicole Tarman; son, Rees Mahone Cooper II; brother, Dr. Tim E. Cooper III (Keiko); mother-in-law, Brenda Turpin; father-in-law, Philip Turpin Sr.; brother-in-law, Philip Turpin III (Laura); sister-in-law, Amy Snell (John); uncle, Alfred Cooper; nieces, Melissa Cooper and Avery Turpin; nephews, Tomoki Cooper, Christopher Turpin, Hunter Turpin, and Luke Snell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Mecklenburg Community Church, 8335 Browne Road, Charlotte, NC 28269. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mecklenburg Community Church.
