Allen Dent Johnson, 70, of Harmony, N.C., passed away January 18, 2022, at Gordon Hospice House following a brief illness. Born July 4, 1951, in Iredell County, N.C., he was the son of the late James B. and Lottie C. Johnson. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Howard Johnson, in 2014.

Allen graduated from North Iredell High School in 1969 and served two years in the United States Marine Corps before returning home to work on the family dairy farm. As a younger man, his hobbies included slow-pitch softball, basketball, bowling, and fishing. Allen owned and operated Jafral Holsteins since 1995. Allen’s true passion in life was registered Holsteins, where over a period of 50 years he bred and developed one of the best registered herds in the history of the Holstein breed.

He is survived by two sisters, Janet Huie of Hamptonville and Earleen Johnson of Salisbury; two brothers, Franklin Johnson (Kay) of Statesville and Russell Johnson (Martha) of Harmony; nieces, Cindy Huie, Laura Jayne Elliott, Mandy Horton (Kevin), Karen Johnson and Ellyn Paige Gaither (Scottie); nephews, Kevin Huie, Derek Johnson (Donna) and Ernie Johnson; great nephews, Dustin Huie, Dylan Kiser, Zachary Elliott, Sean Elliott and DJ Johnson; great nieces, Hannah Johnson, Kenzie Johnson, Kayden Johnson and Megyn Gaither; and numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Nicholson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, N.C., with Rev. Jesse Stroud officiating.
