Mrs. Ella Mae Sharpe Parker, 90, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on September 22, 1932, to the late Hugh Merlin Sharpe and Oatie Mae Lackey Sharpe Nixon. She departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.

Ella worked as a private duty CNA.

In addition to her late parents, Ella was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Epps; and four brothers, Hugh Merlin Sharpe Jr., William Sharpe, Ernest Carter Sharpe and Alburtus Sharpe.

She is survived by her husband, David Jones Parker of the home; one son, David Parker of Bowie, Md.; one daughter, Peggy Parker of Decatur, Ga..; two brothers, Furman C. (Esther) Sharpe of Simpsonville, S.C., and Charles Kenneth (Virginia) Sharpe of Charlotte, N.C.; a godson, Keith Sylvester (LaQuita) Parker of Florida; four sisters-in-law, Mary Lois (Paul) Parker, Lucy Mills, Mary Parker and Magdeline Davis Sharpe; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at New Life Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Mrs. Parker will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 11:30 a.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Elder Wade Ikard will officiate, and Elder Keith Williams will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Park in Statesville, N.C.
