Hubert “Chuck” Lee Morton, 85 of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, following a period of declining health.

Chuck was born on June 1, 1937, in Stanley County to the late Ulysses S. Grant Morton and Colon Eudy Morton. He was member of Trinity Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, and Jesus had his right hand. Chuck loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Jackie, Terry, and Keven; brothers Bob Morton and wife Betty, and Jimmy D. Morton and wife Cathy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 29 years, Hilda Lyles Morton; brother, Alvie Ray Morton and wife Sue of Louisiana; sister Sharon Ingold and husband Kenny of South Carolina; stepsons, Chris Nesbit (Michelle), and Brent Lipe (Tiffany); daughters, Diane, Bonnie and Angela; daughter-in-law Debbie; and close-to-his heart grandchildren, Allison Nesbit, Katherine Lipe and Nolan Lipe; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 15, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Mooresville with Dr. Rev. Mark Harris and Rev. Brad Harrison officiating. Per Chuck’s request, anyone attending the service please wear blue jeans. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park with Rev. Roger Wood officiating. The service will be livestreamed by Trinity Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Trinity Baptist Church, Mooresville.
