James “Marvin” Shives, 89, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on January 26, 2022. Marvin was born and raised in Statesville. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Horace A. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Joel (Beverly) Shives of Statesville; a granddaughter, April (Elbert) Higgins; two great-granddaughters, Kearston and Brooklyn Higgins, all of Claremont; a brother, Freddy (Lida) Shives of Statesville; and many loving extended step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the VA Medical Center in Salisbury for the excellent care given to Marvin during his time of need.
