Barry Davis Thompson, 62, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. He was born in Iredell County on January 26, 1961, to the late Frances Katherine Thompson and Loyce Neal Thompson.

Barry was a WWII buff who enjoyed reading, tending to his plants, coaching his kids’ sports teams, cheering for his grandson at soccer games, sharing a cup of ice cream at Mooresville Ice Cream Parlor (his favorite was Nana’s Banana Pudding) and, most importantly, sharing memories with family.

Barry’s greatest gift was his gift of conversation. He loved to talk, never met a stranger and was a natural storyteller. It brought him immense joy sharing memories and stories of his beloved hometown, Mooresville, his friends and his family. His heirloom of conversations and stories will be greatly missed but cherished by those who knew him.

Barry deeply loved his family, and his family deeply loved him. His physical presence will be missed but his love and stories will be forever treasured.

Barry is survived by his daughter, Whitney Thompson; sons, Logan Thompson and Zack Thompson and partner Ashleigh Parker, all of Mooresville; grandsons, Porter Davis Thompson and Palmer Jo Thompson; bonus grandson, Parker White; former wife, Shari Thompson; and brothers, Terry Thompson and Richard Thompson.

The family will have a Celebration of Life gathering from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 643 Isle of Pines Road, Mooresville, NC 28117.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christian Mission of Mooresville-Lake Norman, 266 N. Broad Street, Mooresville, NC 28115 (https://ourchristianmission.org/bloomerang/).
