Beatrice “Bunnie” Hawkins, 86, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House.

Mrs. Hawkins was born April 18, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Theodore Bick and Beatrice Niles Bick. On August 31, 1958, she married her beloved husband Theodore Hawkins, and together they shared almost 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2018. Bunnie and Ted were members of the Cantamos Choir for 14 years, and at one time they were honored to sing in the Billy Graham Crusade in Charlotte. Together they made the pilgrimage in the Via De Cristo. A faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church, Bunnie also proudly served as Parish Administrator with Pressley Memorial ARP church, retiring in 2011. Her deep faith called her to a life of service including being president of the Statesville Woman’s Club, a member of the Statesville Christian Women’s Club, the Junior Service League, and volunteering with Iredell Memorial Hospital, Teen Challenge, and the Statesville Little Theater, as well as being a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Bunnie enjoyed playing tennis, volleyball, softball, and the handbells, and was a professional baker.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bunnie was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Bick.

Those left to cherish the memory of Mrs. Hawkins include her daughter, Pamela Weiden (Conrad) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; three sons, Christopher C. Hawkins (Kimberly) of Ocean Isle, N.C, T. Russell Hawkins of Statesville, and Douglas J. Hawkins of Winston-Salem, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Adelaide Roels, Catherine, Mathias and Conrad Weiden, Kirby, Carson and Isaac Hawkins, and Lydia and Josiah Hawkins; and her great grandson, Kason Hawkins. Also surviving are four nieces and two nephews.

Service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced via the Troutman Funeral Home website in the near future.
