Mrs. Bettie Viola Campbell, 73, was born in Rowan County, N.C., on March 2, 1949, to the late Dave Jackson and Cora Lee Correy Jackson. She departed this life on on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C.

Bettie attended school in Rowan County and at one time was employed as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennett Campbell.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life one son, Willie James Phillips; one daughter, DaVikie (Dennis) Scott; two brothers, Nathaniel (Barbara Ann) Jackson and Beauty (Sherry) Jackson; grandchildren, Kawaii Steele, Christopher Steele, Bremington Steele, Jasmine Phillips, Jamie Phillips, Justice Phillips, and Ja’hari Phillips; special friends, Sallie Witt, Nancy Martin, Magelin Sharpe, Patricia Bines, Mary Steele, Joann Brown, and the Greater New Mt. Olive family; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Greater New Mt. Olive Church, Statesville, N.C., at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church. Pastor Carolyn Morrison will be officiating, and Bishop Jackson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at the Belmont Cemetery, Statesville.
