Mrs. Brenda Harriett McClain Turner, 73, was born in Alexander County, N.C., on December 10, 1950, to the late Ernest Wade “Tom” Bailey and Ollie C. McClain. She departed this life on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Carolina Caring Hospice House of Catawba County.

Brenda attended both elementary and high school at Happy Plains in Alexander County. In 1983, she attended Mitchell Community College, where she studied early childhood development for two years. She was a devoted member of Third Creek Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Fraternal, Service and Union. She was married to the love of her life Harry Dewayne Turner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Sean Xavier Poole; brothers, Kelly Bailey, Billy Bailey, Danny Bailey, and Rick Connor; sister, Catherine Knox; niece, Kelly Lashonda Bailey; great niece, Courtney Byers; brother-in-law, Barry Lane Turner; and a sister-in-law, Cheryl Ann Turner.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life her husband, Harry Dewayne Turner; daughter/niece, Tara Ramsey Wilson; daughter, Barbie Reid; one brother, Joey Craig Bailey of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Lottie Ann Bailey; aunt, Betty Ross Poole of Hiddenite, N.C.; brother-in-law, Keith (Sondra) Turner; sister-in-law, Janice Bailey; grandchildren, Xavier D’Shawn (Elizabeth) Poole and Kyesha Renee (Ryan) Poole; great grandchildren, Jaden Asher McCurray, Blaze Xavier Cruz-Poole, Milo Sean Cameron McCurray, and one great grandchild on the way; nephew, BJ Turner, Antwan Turner, Kenny Bailey, Bryan Bailey, Vernon Byers, David (Toni) Byers, Corey Turner, and Derrick Turner; niece, Tasha Byers; great nieces and nephews, Cameron Byers, Michael Ferguson, Jalea Byers, and Imani Byers, Tyra Allison, Tyshek K. Wilson, Asia Bailey, Barry Lane “Tre” Turner III, Ayden Evans, and Derrion Turner; and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary. The visitation will be from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
