Carroll Dennis “Bedo” Culberson, 96, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 23, 1926, in Snow Springs, Ga., to the late Clifford Culberson and Eva Mathis Culberson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Maurice, Leon, James, and Kenneth Culberson; and sisters, Avanelle Lam and Camilla Culberson.

Bedo was a loan officer in banking before his retirement. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Mooresville Optimist Club and the Civitan Club. He enjoyed playing golf and set several records, winning many tournaments at area golf courses. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was the Sunday School treasurer there for many years.

Bedo is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Pat Rhodes Culberson; children, Craig Culberson and wife April, and Carole Crews; sister, Patti Jean Culberson Yoder; grandsons, Curtis Crews and Nathan Culberson; and one great-grandson, Elling Culberson. Also surviving, are a great number of nieces and nephews and their families, spanning four generations.

A Celebration of Bedo’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 24, at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Dave Rockness and Rev. Dr. Fred Coates officiating. Visitation for family and friends will follow the service.
