David Curtis Bowers Sr., 65, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at his home. He was born September 27, 1957, in Mecklenburg County to James Curtis and Ola Lee (Smith) Bowers.

David held many professional positions throughout his life, including Supervisor for Reeves Brothers Construction and Plant Manager at Olympic Products. He also and owned his own automotive business for over 27 years, Dave’s Automotive and Towing. David was a “jack of all trades,” quick to help anyone, anytime, with anything that needed to be done.

He was always eager to include his wife, son, daughter, grandchildren, brothers, and friends in his adventure of the day. “Papa” enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, birthday parties, and any family function where he was able to spend time with his family. “Papa” was never mentioned without the love of his life, “Nanny.” He loved her more than anything, and they were married for over 46 years.

David is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Guinn Bowers; two children, David Curtis Bowers Jr. and wife Kristi, and Roxanne Bowers Miller and husband Robert; eight grandchildren, Marshall Bowers, Chloé Bowers, Sammy Miller and wife Ivy, Rory Miller, Nicole Nantz, Jacob Bowers, and Jade Bowers; and one great grandchild, Kooper Miller. Also surviving are his five brothers, Frankie Hartsell, Freddie Hartsell and wife Linda, Jimmy Hartsell and wife Elaine, Melvin Bowers, and Roger Bowers; his mother-in-law, Gloria Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 5 p.m. with Pastor David Klinedinst officiating.
