Dr. Ronald Green Dennis, 78, of Mooresville, N.C. passed away at home with family by his side on December 26, 2023. Ron was born on June 28, 1945, in High Point, N.C., to the late Ernest and Ruth Dennis. He grew up in High Point with his parents and late brother Phillip. After graduating from High Point “Central” High School, Ron went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Wake Forest University. He continued his education to complete a Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest School of Medicine. After medical school, Ron moved to Atlanta for his Medical Internship at Emory University School of Medicine, where he met his wife Jane while they were working in the hospital together. Ron was called to service during the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Air Force teaching physician assistants in Wichita Falls, Texas.

After serving, he returned to Atlanta to complete his Residency in Otolaryngology at Emory. Ron and Jane started a family and spent time in Atlanta and La Grange, Ga., before settling in Charlotte to raise their four children. Ron greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. He supported his children in their sports and activities and loved family trips and adventures to new places. He was a long-time member of Sardis Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and worked with the youth.

Ron loved his work as an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor, especially helping and caring for his patients. A devoted community physician, Ron served patients across the greater Charlotte area for over 35 years. His impact on the medical community included various leadership and committee positions during his career, including Chief of ENT at Presbyterian Hospital and serving patients in Kenya. “Dr D.,” as he was affectionately known, developed lifelong friends at his first practice, Randolph Road ENT. Ron retired from Charlotte Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat in 2015 and moved to Lake Norman, where he and his family made many special memories of summers spent together.

Ron enjoyed the serenity and adventure of the lake and spent time boating with his wife and children and later, his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, sailor, and skier as well as a history buff and life long learner. He also appreciated a good laugh and was especially fond of comedies.

Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jane Moorman Dennis; sons, Brent Dennis (Jessica) and Drew Dennis (Lauren); and daughters, Lauren Miranda (Michael) and Anna Benjamin (Matt). He was a loving Papa to his eleven grandchildren, Harper and Jacob Dennis, Andrew and Caroline Dennis, Juliet, Maeve and Alice Miranda, and Frances, Wyatt, Hudson, and Miles Benjamin.

A memorial will be held at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Charlotte on January 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon and reception will follow at the church with all welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Discovery Place or to a charity of your choice.
