Edward “Eddie” Alexander Neel, a beloved husband, devoted father, and skilled electrician, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023, at his residence in Mooresville, N.C. He was 79 years old.

Born on October 5, 1944, in Mooresville, Eddie was the son of the late A.Y Neel Jr. and Mary Bethel Howard Neel. He grew up in a close-knit community, forming lifelong friendships and deepening his love for his hometown. Eddie’s strong work ethic led him to pursue a career in the electric industry, where his talents as an electrician were highly valued. With dedication and expertise, he served his community for over four decades, leaving a lasting mark on those he worked with and the projects he completed. Eddie formerly served as Chief for the Lake Norman Volunteer Fire Department where he had over 50 years of service to our community. He was also a member of Vanderburg Methodist Church, Mooresville.

Eddie’s passion for his work was only surpassed by his love and devotion to his beloved wife Kathy. Their love story was one that inspired all who knew them, filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life rooted in love, creating countless memories and cherishing every moment spent together. Eddie’s commitment to his family extended beyond his immediate circle, as he played an integral role in the lives of his extended family members and close friends.

In addition to his loving wife, Kathy Neel, Eddie is survived by daughters, Avery M. Neel and Ashley Neel Pulver (Jason); granddaughter, Isabella Grace Pulver; brother, Jack Neel (Christine) and sister, Jane Neel Laney (Larry).

He was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Ray Neel.

Eddie shared a lifetime of memories with his family and friends. While his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will forever endure through the lives he touched and the impact he made.

A celebration of Eddie’s life will be held on December 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Vanderburg Methodist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Melanie Nichols officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Vanderburg Methodist Church, 1809 Charlotte Highway, Mooresville, NC 28115 or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
