Eric Albert Peterson of Mooresville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15, 2023. Mr. Peterson was born in Lynn, Mass., on March 26, 1938, to the late Doris Brydon and Walter Albert Peterson.

He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Peterson.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his sons, Eric B. Peterson and Chris Peterson of Mooresville, N.C.; daughter, Amy Hitchcock of Johns Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael Peterson of Raleigh, N.C., Matthew Gore of Charlotte, N.C., and Kaitlyn Peterson of Mooresville, N.C.

Eric Graduated from Solvay High School in New York and Ohio Wesleyan University, after which he was employed by Atlantic Refining Co. in Syracuse, N.Y. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard, 27th Armored Division, 208th Armored Battalion for five and a half years. He was vice president of Allied Industrial Laundry in Solvay, N.Y., until November of 1977, at which time he joined Standard Uniform Services as GM in Charlotte, N.C.

During his business career, Eric was active in the Taunton volunteer fire department in Taunton, N.Y., serving as Captain in charge of emergency service training and teaching fire safety education. He was chairman of the Charlotte Clean City Committee for several years, managing several citywide litter clean-up campaigns and litter abatement programs. He was a member and director of the Washington DC-based Institute of Industrial Launderers. He served as Program Chairman of the N.C. Association of the Textile Service Board of Directors, was a charter member of the Lake Norman Wildlife Conservation and an active member of the Queen City Model A Ford Club. He enjoyed kayaking and model railroading in his spare time.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
