Gloria Jean Rupard Comer, 97, of Union Grove, N.C., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was the wife of the late Charles Mitchell Comer and the daughter of the late Winston Winfield and Commie Esther Williams Rupard.

She was a graduate of Union Grove High School and a faithful member of Grassy Knob Baptist Church. Jean loved gardening, flowers, beekeeping, and her cattle. She dearly loved her family and will be sorely missed by them as they dearly loved her also.

Jean is survived by two sons, Terry Comer and Timothy Comer; one daughter, Alcy (Homer) Prevette; five grandsons, Nathan Comer, Matthew (Jennifer) Comer, Joseph (Megan) Prevette, Ray (Rachel) Prevette, and Benjamin Prevette; and four granddaughters, Gloria (Brett) York, Jennifer (Art) Lankford, Alison Mann, and TJ Brinkman. Also surviving are seven great grandsons, Jaxon Prevette, Austin, Charlie, and Davis Lankford, Nate and Titus Comer, and Eric Bailey; one great granddaughter, Abigail Comer; one sister, Joyce Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Jean was also preceded in death by one daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Pete Mann; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Gail Comer; nine brothers, and two sisters, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Randy Campbell will officiate. The family will speak with friends in the cemetery following the service.

Box 22324, New York, NY 10087.
