Helen “Wootie” Norrid Henderson, 77, of Statesville, N.C., passed away May 3, 2023, at Gordan Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. Wootie was born September 03, 1945, in Missouri to the late James Haskel Norrid and Lavella O’Kane Norrid.

Wootie was a Teacher’s assistant, musician, singer, and bass player, and she was also a licensed beautician. She enjoyed the family getting together, especially during the holidays. She was quite a prankster and perfectionist. She was first place in senior division women’s Archery, and she was an artist who loved to paint, do crafts, and she was a seamstress. Her grandchildren called her “Woo Woo,” and she loved her family and friends more than anything.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Imogene Norrid Rodriguez.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Clyde Henderson of the home; two sons, Chester Henderson and wife Lisa of Harmony, and Kevin Henderson and wife Teresa of Troutman; one daughter, Danielle Henderson Moody and husband Joe of Stony Point; one brother, James “Ricky” Richard Norrid of Mississippi; two grandchildren Joshua Moody and wife Carina of Stony Point, and Jessica Moody Meyer and husband Mathew of Statesville; and two great-grandchildren, Jayden Trejo and Abigail Moody.

Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, May 7, 2023, at 5 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. The family will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Chester Henderson, Kevin Henderson, Joe Moody, Joshua Moody and Mathew Meyer.
