John Willie Campbell, 68, of Union Grove, N.C., passed away May 4, 2023, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, N.C. John was born July 9, 1954, in Iredell County to the late Lealdon Campbell and Eloise Speaks. John worked as a Crane Operator.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony Eric Sturgill; one brother, Woodrow; and three sisters Betty Sue, Wally, and Judy.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Amelia Heidi Campbell Smith and husband Patrick of Charlotte; two brothers, Albert Lee and Charles; and two sisters, Maudie Lou and Becky; and two grandchildren, Blake and Evan Smith.
Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 3:15 pm, at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 3 to 3:15 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Campbell Cemetery in Union Grove.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.

Saddened to hear about Willie. We were good friends growing up and had a lot of fun times. We were just kids in a great little town of Union Grove.
I went to school at Union Grove with Willie and all of his younger brothers and sisters. I never saw anyone after I left Union Grove. But I see them all in the obituary. Sorry and my condolences to all the Campbell family.
