Johnathan Lee “John” Mahler, 52, of Statesville, N.C., passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Mahler was born June 23, 1970, in Allentown, Pa., the son of Martha Campbell. John was a graduate of New Hanover High School, worked as a truck driver with Cooke Trucking and was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and the Army National Guard. In April 2014 he married his beloved wife, Miriah Wilhelm Mahler. Together they shared nine wonderful years of marriage. John was a member of the Cove Church in Statesville. He enjoyed flying kites, mountain biking, bowling, and grilling, but above all he dearly loved his family.

In addition to his wife Miriah and mother, Martha, Mr. Mahler is survived by his son, Dakota Wilhelm (Layla); his daughters, Samantha Mahala and Autumn Mahala; his grandsons, Henry Wilhelm and Dakota Wilhelm Jr.; his grand “princess,” Amelia Brooks; his sisters, Anne Brack (Jeb) and Mary Bauer (Kraig); and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life with full military honors will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Troutman Funeral Home Chapel. His pastor David Porter will officiate.
