Juencio “Juve” Mata Carbajal, 30, of Statesville, N.C., passed away unexpectedly February 26, 2023, at Atrium Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. Juve was born November 23, 1992, in Iredell County to Patricia Faye Sutherland Hernandez of Statesville and Juvencio Mata Carbajal of Tamacuaro Guerrero, Mexico. Juve attended North Iredell High School in Olin, N.C.

Juve was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Charles James Sutherland; paternal grandfather, Cruz Mata Luviano; great grandmother, Hazel Bryant; paternal uncle, Esteban Mata Martinez; maternal uncle, Benjamin Sutherland; cousin, Cecilio Mata Gonzalez; paternal aunt, Maria De Jesus Mata Carbajal; and paternal uncle Jose Renteria.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Patricia Hernandez; his father, Juvencio Meta Carbajal; stepfather, Pablo Hernandez; two brothers, Adam Carbajal (Marilus Vasquez) of Statesville, and Brandon Carbajal of Hiddenite; one sister, Theresa Carbajal of Statesville; his girlfriend Chelsea Hernandez; his children, Elijah Mosiah Carbajal, Juvencio Mata Carbajal Jr., Katelina Lucero Carbajal-Hernandez, and Ruby Soledad Carbajal-Hernandez, all of Statesville; nephew, Osiel Carbajal; niece Yarell Carbajal; maternal grandmother, Benita Sutherland of Statesville; paternal grandmother, Soledad Mata Carbajal of Mexico; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Charles Davidson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Chapman Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Stony Point Cemetery.
