LeRoy George Stamets, 84, of Statesville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House.
LeRoy was born September 11, 1939, in Milford, N.J., and was the son of the late William and Beulah Fleming Stamets. He graduated from Frenchtown High School, Class of 1957, and married Andrea Sujet Stamets. He grew up as a dairy farmer, later served in the U.S. Air Force, and then worked with his father-in-law and brother-in-law at Diamond Point Knife & Tool. He was active in Boy Scouts, and he loved hunting, playing softball, bowling and coaching little league baseball.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, LeRoy is survived by a daughter, Lisa Stamets; a son, Derek Stamets (Deb); one brother, William Stamets Jr.; and two sisters, Flora S. Nielsen and JoAnn S. Kuhne.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, in the Troutman Funeral Home Chapel and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville.

I did not have the pleasure and honor of knowing Mr. Stamets, but he and I grew up in the same lovely town…Milford, New Jersey. I’m sorry we could not have connected before he passed on. It would have been wonderful to share memories of that beautiful area.
I’m sure LeRoy was a fine, hard-working man! God bless all of you folks who are his remaining family.
