It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Ellen Hulbert (nee York), a deeply loved soul whose presence graced this earth for 76 years. Margaret peacefully departed from us on December 11, 2023, in Denver, N.C. She was born on March 8, 1947, in Plymouth, N.H.

Margaret’s life was a testament of her deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she accepted in her heart at the age of 29. Her love for her Savior was evident throughout her life; she always took the opportunity to tell friends and strangers of Jesus’ love for them and to pray in any circumstance. Margaret’s life verse was Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” This verse provided much comfort to Margaret as God’s promises were always fulfilled for her and her deeply beloved family.

Margaret’s laugh was infectious and filled with joy; anyone who heard it couldn’t help but smile too and match her joy. She loved to garden, dance and cook. Her love for gardening was apparent to everyone who walked past her home. She received multiple compliments from neighbors and strangers on the beautiful flowers that graced the front garden. She never missed an opportunity to dance at a wedding or any event; she knew how to “cut the rug.” Margaret was the true matriarch of her family; she prepared many holiday meals and meals for any event to gather her family and make lasting memories.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband Lloyd, who stood faithfully by her side and cared for her up until the moment she entered the presence of her Lord. Also mourning her loss are her brother, Michael York; and her children, Patrice Tucker and her husband Russell, Jennifer LaFlesh and her husband Bill, Sean Hulbert and his wife Lynn, and Matthew Hulbert and his wife Michelle. Margaret’s spirit will live on through her treasured grandchildren: Lindsay, Casey, Cory, Ryane, Brittany, Morgan, Jack, Kyle, Madison, Gage, Jake, Sara, Erin and Ryan. Additionally, she leaves behind seven great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Margaret’s faith and life will be held at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, located at 494 E Plaza Drive, Mooresville, NC 28115, on January 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. For any inquiries or assistance, please contact the funeral home at (704) 664-3363.
