Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ikard McGill was born in Lincoln County on December 14, 1949, and was the daughter of the late Harold Willie Ikard and Sarah Elizabeth McDowell Ikard. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C., following an extended illness.

In addition to her parents, Mary preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Ikard and Harry “Woody” Ikard

Mary attended Fred T Foard High School, worked as a CNA and was a faithful member of Highland Acres Church of Christ.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life,three sisters, Pearl (Bishop Michael) Saddler, and Mattie (Allen) Parks, both of Trouman, and Betty Sue Ikard of Huntersville; a sister-in-law, Joan Parks Ikard of Troutman; two god children, whom she raised, Alagra “Starlene” McDonald of Troutman and Antonio of Statesville; several god grandchildren; two close friends, Nelda Davis and Ida Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Highland Acres Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church.
