Mary Margaret Novak Wermuth, 80, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023. She was born on January 30, 1943, in Glen Gardner, N.J., to the late Rudolph and Wilma Apgar Novak.

Mrs. Wermuth was retired from FMW Enterprise, a company that she and her late husband Fred founded and ran together. She enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, including fishing, hunting, target shooting, and camping. She was very adventurous and would try anything, even jumping out of a plane at age 75. She loved life and had fun doing it. Mrs. Wermuth was the cool and free mom and the mother-in-law that you wanted to travel with.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Arthur Wermuth III; her brother, Richard Novak; and sister, Judith Adriance.

She is survived by her children, Robert “Bob” Hannigan and wife Sandi, Patricia Lazowsky and husband Mark; stepdaughter, Penny Panzer and significant other, Danny Mayer; sister, Barbara Kutzer; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Novak and Jacqui Wermuth Anstey; brothers-in-law, Donald Adriance and Tom Wermuth; step grandchildren, Ray and Zoe Panzer; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering to celebrate her life will be on Friday, March 24, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. The family will receive friends again on Saturday, March 25, from 2 to 3 p.m. with a Memorial service following at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Eddie Karriker officiating.
