Patrick Charles Petti, 82 of Mooresville, N.C. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 2, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1940, in Newark, N.J., to the late Alfonso and Agnes (Gray) Petti.

He was a retired AT&T Communications Technician in Cherryville, N.J., for over 30 years with previous employment at Lockheed Technologies. Patrick enjoyed living in Hunterdon County, N.J., and Conway, S.C.

First and foremost, Patrick loved his family. He spoke fondly of growing up in Newark, N.J., surrounded by his aunt, uncles and cousins. He enjoyed cooking, spending time outdoors and driving his John Deere gator and tractor. Past President of the Western Horse Owners Association (WHOA) of Hunterdon County, Patrick enjoyed trail riding, especially through the woods and along the New Jersey beaches. Special times were spent with his children. He participated in Indian Guides with his sons, winning a blue ribbon for having the largest kite that flew the longest amount of time. They enjoyed riding dune buggies together and rocket building. Another special family project was building a backyard skate ramp.

Patrick enjoyed going to his daughter’s sports games. When she was very young, he would allow her to “play hooky” one day of school each year. They would go shopping and out to lunch.

The grandchildren will always remember Grandpop making the “BEST” pancakes, allowing them to paint his face and going up with grandpop in the hot air balloon at his 75th birthday party. Making homemade pizza dough and then pizza, going to Jimmy’s Ice Cream Stand and playing miniature golf were just a few family times that will never be forgotten. Gator rides were always best when driving grandpa quickly down a hill.

Always a hard worker, Patrick found many projects to do around the home. He enjoyed conversations with his family, friends and neighbors. Patrick made sure to wish his siblings and their families good health and to enjoy life.

We could not have asked for a better son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

“Forever in our hearts you’ll stay. We will love you and remember you every single day.” RIP until we meet again.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Petti; twin sister, Rosa “Rosie” Petti; nephew, Alfonse Petti; father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Ruth Ammann; and brother-in-law, Vincent Pingitor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Susan (Ammann) Petti; children to whom he was so proud, Garrett Petti (Maria) and Stefanie Rice (Jeremy); grandchildren, Adrielle, Ailyn, Sofia and Colette; sister, Theresa D’Amore (Frank); brothers, Andrew Petti (Jeanne), Anthony Petti (Eleanor), and John Petti (Lisa); sisters-in-law, Joan Petti and Barbara Pingitor; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved seeing over the years.

All arrangements will be private.

The family would like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support during this difficult time. A special appreciation for the Iredell County EMS, Iredell County Hospice and personal care by niece, Cheryl Drake, and his doctors and nurses throughout the years.
