Mrs. Rebecca Arlene Griffin, 87, was born in Iredell County on June 22, 1935, to the late Florence Douglas Morrison. She departed this life on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at High Point Medical Center in High Point, N.C.

Rebecca graduated from the Billingsley Academy and was at one time employed as an inspector with Holly Farms. She was a devoted member of The First Greater Living Missionary Baptist Church of Statesville, N.C.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sons, James Adrian Griffin and Ronald Lee Griffin; two brothers, Fredrick Douglas and William Douglas; and her sister, Arabella Gray.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life four sons, William Fredrick Griffin of Virginia Beach, Va., Kenneth Craig Griffin of Statesville, Steven Odell Griffin of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Anthony Bernard Griffin of Statesville; one daughter, Kathy L. Scott of Statesville; grandchildren, Alicia Scott, Nikia Scott, Fajoya Blackwell (Craig), James Griffin Jr., Steven Griffin, and Kendris Myers; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.

Celebration of Life services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 12 noon at The First Greater Living Missionary Baptist Church, Statesville, N.C. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Dr. John McDonald Jr. will be officiating the service, and burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery.
