Note: The location for Mr. Inscore’s service has been changed to the Performing Arts Center at North Iredell High School.

Robert Joshua “Josh” Shirl Inscore, 37, of Statesville, N.C., died Saturday, April 22, 2023, doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle.

He was born on April 27, 1985, in Iredell County, N.C., to Joey Shirl Inscore and Glenda Ann Nance.

Josh was a dedicated worker and knew how to do many jobs. He was employed as a superintendent at Locke-Lane Construction, where he mastered carpentry, brick laying and excavating, among other skills. Cooking and sharing a good meal were his favorite times. He always had an immaculate yard and shared pictures of how pretty his lawn was. Josh was a people person and loved hanging out with his friends. He was always the life of the party, very funny, and loved to pull a good prank. He had a special love for children, especially his nieces and nephews, and even had a room in his home filled with arcade games, guitars, drums, candy, and all kinds of toys for them to play with. Even though Josh never married, he loved the ladies; and the ladies loved Josh!

He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Robert Lewis Nance; and an uncle, Keith Nance.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Joey Inscore; his mother, Glenda Ann Nance; five sisters, Mykel I. Myers (Joshua), Amie Gregorio (Pedro), Jasmyn Lowe, Kristin Lowe, and Kaleah Hendren (Bradley); paternal grandparents, Robert and Peggy Inscore; maternal grandmother, Annie Nance; nieces and nephews, Cru Myers, Echo Myers, Valentina Fox, Joseph Fox, Caleb Inscore, Gabriel Gregorio, Isaiah Gregorio, Nathalia Gregorio, Isaac Gregorio, Giovanni Gregorio, Gavino Gregorio, Ivanna Gregorio, Mateo Gregorio, Savannah Webb (Ethan), and Colt Hendren; great-niece, Gaia Mitchell; two aunts, Kim Juarez (Gustavo), and Angela Nance; an uncle, Ted Inscore (Jill); a special little buddy, Ryker Beasley; his Great Dane, Romeo; and many other family and friends. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Josh always said “I love you” when he talked to his family, but his beautiful, genuine smile and bright blue eyes, revealed it as loudly as any words.

A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. at the North Iredell High School Performing Arts Center with Pastor Gary Blalock, Andrew Sherrill and Edward Shumaker officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery; however, there will not be a formal procession. The family will visit with family and friends Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials in Josh’s memory may be made to Levine Children’s Hospital, 208 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Inscore family.
