Virginia Mae Branton Moore, 87 of Statesville, N.C., passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Gordon Hospice House.

Mrs. Moore was born March 14, 1936, in Alexander County, N.C., the daughter of the late Fred Branton and Ida Gay Christopher Branton. She was a graduate of Stony Point High School. Virginia worked in the office at the Statesville Country Club and also at Belk Department Store, but her greatest joy in serving came as the Choir Director at Stony Point Baptist Church. She was married to her beloved husband, James Robert Moore, for more than 54 years, until his passing in 2011.

Along with her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Scott Davis; her brother, John Elbert Branton; her sisters, Colleen Chapman and Gaynell Stikeleather; and her daughter-in-law, Sherry Moore.

Those left to cherish Mrs. Moore’s memory include her daughter, Alisa Moore; her sons, Bobby Moore and Billy Moore (Nancy); her granddaughters, Renee Gryder and Adrianne Blackwelder (Adam); her great grandchildren, Kendall Gryder, Noah Davis, Nora Davis, Reid Davis, Braelyn Blackwelder, Emmalyn Blackwelder and Grady Blackwelder; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Virginia Moore will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Troutman Funeral Chapel, Rev. Brian Burgess will officiate. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow the funeral at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
