William F. Glacken of Troutman, N.C., formerly of Winchester, Mass., passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age of 62 surrounded by his family after a long battle with hemochromatosis and cardiac-related illness.

Bill was born in Belmont, Mass., to the late William H. Glacken and Suzanne Glacken (Ford). Bill graduated high school with the first graduating class of Minuteman Vocational High School in 1980. Upon his completion of high school, Bill enlisted and served his country in the United States Navy. He earned multiple decorations, including the Navy Expeditionary Medal. Throughout his life, Bill maintained close ties to his military service in leadership roles in V.F.W. Posts in Massachusetts and North Carolina. He served in multiple capacities throughout the years, including Commander. In his free time, Bill enjoyed fishing, playing pool and darts (both locally and competitively), as well as spending quality time with his family and dog, and driving around in his prized vintage Ford truck with his Dunkin Donuts coffee.

Bill was predeceased by his father, William H Glacken. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 38 years, Susan Glacken of Troutman, N.C.; his three daughters, Tammie Baum and her husband Ricky Baum of Upton Mass., Rachael Baum of Framingham, Mass., and Brittany Glacken of Huntersville, N.C., as well as his two grandchildren, Aidan and Cameron Baum. Bill also leaves behind his mother, Suzanne Glacken of Milford, Mass.; his two sisters, Cynthia Paulsen of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Jessica McPhail and her husband Ronald McPhail of Milford, Mass.; and his brother, Derek Glacken of Norfolk, Mass.; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and in-laws, including Diana Mood of Mooresville, N.C. Further, Bill leaves behind so many friends old and new.

Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to a Memorial Service from 3 to 4 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, 760 Main Street, Winchester, Mass.

The V.F.W in Statesville NC will be honoring Bill on January 2, 2024, at 12 noon at 139 Jordan Lane, Statesville, N.C. (Weather permitting)
