Abimael “Abi” Christopher Vargas, 63, of Troutman, N.C., and formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Novant Health Huntersville.

He was born September 6, 1960, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Luis Alberto Vargas and Blanca Casals Vargas. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Maria Carmoega.

He enjoyed traveling, being outdoors, and doing yard work. Abi loved reading his Bible and sharing God’s words to his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Abi is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Evelyn Montero Vargas; children, Michaela Biggers and husband Chris, Malachi Vargas, Ariana Lamia and husband John, and Luis Vargas and wife Caitlyn; grandchildren, Taylor Perso, Isabella Perso, Charlie Biggers, and Valentina Vargas; sisters, Judy Garces and husband Frank, and Debra Vargas; and brother, Luis Vargas and wife Joey.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, February 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home and Sunday, February 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be on Monday, February 19, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Biggers Sr. officiating. Burial will follow the service in Rocky Mount Church Cemetery.
