Arleen Mary Conroy Newlon, 76, of Statesville, N.C., died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., on May 30, 1947, to the late Matilda Guderian Conroy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Newlon Sr.

Arleen was of the Catholic faith. Her hobbies included fishing, watching “Curse of Oak Island,” going to eat at Granny’s Kitchen in Cherokee, and bird watching, especially cardinals. Arleen loved the mountains and spending time there. Her beloved percheron horse, Rob, lives there and she loved spending time with him. More than anything, she loved her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Jerry Newlon, Jr. (Stacey), a daughter, Jeanette Jackson (Steve), three grandchildren, Everett Newlon, Rachel Snyder (Jonathan), Hunter Jackson, three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Micah Snyder, Jr., Dallas Ryder, Malachi Creed Snyder, a sister, and brother-in-law, and lots of cousins.

A Gathering of Friends will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Nicholson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.
