Mr. Arthur Junior Turner, 88, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on December 2, 1935, and was the son of the late Fred Holmes Jr. and James Onslow Reid and Floria Victoria Turner Reid. He departed this life on Thursday, December 28, 2023, of natural causes at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C., following an extended illness.

He graduated from Morningside High School in 1953 and retired from the Iredell-Statesville School System in January of 1998. He also worked there part time until his illness. He was a Pontiac Buick man and he loved the Lord!

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dariun Eric Turner; two sisters, Anita Louise Reid and Joe Evelyn Caldwell; two aunts, Helen Holmes and Louise Bradshaw; an uncle, Roger Holmes; a special niece, Wanda Victoria Reid; and a special cousin, Patsy Holmes.

Arthur leaves to cherish the memory of his life four sons, Sedrick Oneil Turner, Kevin Turner, Victor Turner and Arthur Junior Turner; his grandchildren, Darian E. Turner Jr., Jaylen Turner, Shamima Adams, Shelneda Mosley, J. Dez Bothwell, Alija Mosley, William Stevenson, Heaven Turner, Nevaeh Turner, and Arthur Junior Turner III; nephew WIlliam M. (Sheila) Reid of Statesville, Tony Eugene Reid of Charlotte, Debra (Johnell) Hunter of Winston-Salem; a special friend of many years, Sylvia; neighbor and good friend, Bob Foster, and a host of other family, church family and friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Sunday, January 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Baptist Church. Rev. Darrick Clemmons will officiate and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mr. Turner will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12 noon. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m.
