Betty Coggins Wooten, 94, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born on May 16, 1930, in Forsyth County, N.C., to the late William and Bessie Stimpson Coggins.

Betty attended Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where her Sunday school class was the joy of her life, and she appreciated them very much. She retired from Celanese and even went back to help them after retirement to set up the accounts payable department in Salisbury.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home and enjoyed golfing and was a member of the women’s golf league at Mooresville. Betty was an avid reader and will be remembered for her sense of humor and her love for dogs, her grand dogs, Bear and Copper, and especially her own dog, Sugar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Cleveland Wooten; sisters, Jaudaine Allred and Emma Nell Davis; and brother, William Clary “Sonny” Coggins.

Those left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children, Andy Wooten of Mooresville, and Joan Snudden and husband David of Asheville. Also surviving are numerous nieces, and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on, Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Williamson’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Pitts officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
