Mrs. Christine Elizabeth Schweinle Crowe, 60, of Sherrills Ford, N.C., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 20, 2024, as the evening sun was setting across the lake. She entered eternal life with our Lord and Savior after a long and challenging journey of 10-plus years with metastatic breast cancer, all along fighting a difficult battle while continuing to enjoy life, encouraging others daily with her warm and gentle heart and beautiful smile.

She was born on May 27th, 1964, in Grosse Pointe, Mich., to the late Hermann and Rosemarie Grimminger Schweinle.

Those left to cherish Christine’s memory are her loving husband, Charles William Crowe Jr.; her sister, Brigida Schweinle Mastin (Robert Mastin); her beautiful daughters, Alexandra Nolan Davis (Klayton Davis) and Dr. Jordan Elizabeth Nolan; and her granddaughter Blakely Kooper Davis (affectionately called Ruffle Butts by Christine).

Christine graduated from South Mecklenburg High school in 1982 after moving to Charlotte from Michigan in 1977. She was employed at Standard Register from 1983 to 2017. During this time, she also enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets with her daughters and friends. She would travel many weekends to various venues seeking that hidden treasure for her “Pieces of Old” antique business that she so enjoyed. She enjoyed learning about the heritage and stories of the furniture or the items and mostly the people that she met along the way!

In 2017, she was offered the opportunity to retire from Standard Register, and it was during this time that she became very interested in playing tennis and did she love her tennis. She enjoyed playing daily, socializing with the players, and just spending time on the court. She would often come home so excited about the people she met or the play of her teammates, and always concerned that she played well enough to help the team win. When she wasn’t on the court, she could be found sitting on her back pouch overlooking Lake Norman, watching the sunset or just relaxing. Her many enjoyable memories were with her family spending time on the boat or hanging out on the dock every weekend with her “lakelife friends.” Her best days on the water were when the “girls,” Jordan, Alexandra and little Blakely, would come home. Oh, how she loved them, and her granddaughter was the biggest blessing in her life, after her daughters of course. She loved being together as a family and sharing each and every memory possible. When she was not on the court or the lake, she loved the beach, Charleston and Hilton Head. We just completed a family vacation to Hilton Head, where she played tennis in the morning, shared the beach with the family, then dinner and family time. She loved playing board games, backgammon, and relaxing over a card game. She was blessed to have been a part of many social circles and loved her family and friends dearly. Christine was a very special gift from God to all of us!
