Mr. Derwin Bernard Moore, 60, was born in Tampa, Fla., on February 3, 1963, to Fannie Mae Willis Moore and the late Albert Moore. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C.

Derwin graduated from Statesville High School with the Class of 1982. He was affectionately known as “Rudolph” by his family and friends. Rudolph was employed with L. Gordon Iron & Metal Company, where he was responsible for sorting metals. He loved watching football and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He married the love of his life, Donise Ann Robinson Moore, on December 11, 1998.

In addition his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Curtis Moore and Dewayne Willis.

He leaves to cherish the memory of his life his wife, Donise Ann Robinson Moore; his mother, Fannie Mae Willis Moore; one son, Dontae (Babe Turner) Freeman of Troutman; one stepson, Cody Robinson of Statesville; a stepdaughter, Latasha Nicole (Donell) Robinson Stevenson; four brothers, Jackie Moore of Virginia, Exodus Moore of Statesville, Daris Moore of Dublin, Ga., and Wallace Willis of Statesville; six sisters, Jacqueline Bell of Statesville, Valerie (John) Templeton, Stephanie Moore, Blanche Willis, all of Statesville, Quanita Bost (Michael) Glendale of Maryland and Carol Ann Moore; one uncle, Edsel (Dorian) Moore; sisters-in-law, Sondra (Robert) Cowan, Sylvia Strickland, Beulah Scott, and Alice Harper; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends

Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Rutledge and Bigham Mortuary at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Elder Stephanie Scott Williams will be officiating the service.
