Doris “Lavonne” Curtis Payne, 97, of Mooresville, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was born on June 30, 1926, in Mooresville to the late Joseph and Harriet Parsons Curtis.

Lavonne was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and going to the beach, but mostly spending time with her family. Her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William Price Alexander and James Calvin Payne; brothers George, Ray, and Cevonne Curtis; and sisters, Artie Mae Marlowe, Julia Smith, Nena Cole, and Ailene Benfield.

Those left to cherish Lavonne’s memory are her daughters, Robin Reeves, and Trudy Karriker and husband Terry; grandchildren Anna Richardson, Sarah Reeves, Laura Nan Mann, Elisha Thompson, and Elizabeth Lauver; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
