Doris Elaine Bennett Moose, 91, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully at Gordon Hospice House on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born on November 20, 1932, in Statesville to the late Meaver Andrew Bennett and Neva Leola Keever Bennett, Doris embodied a life of kindness and compassion.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband James Mack Moose; grandson, Jared Moose; brothers Craig Bennett, J.C. Bennett, Harold Bennett, Paul Bennett, Richard Bennett and Leon Bennett; and her sisters, Kathleen Moose, Sue Shoemaker, Lucille Brim, and Virginia Reynolds.

Doris is survived by her son, Gary Moose and wife Kathy; her daughter, Debbie Sweeney and husband Steve; and her son, Jamie Moose and wife Tammy. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Cheryl Shuffler and husband Wes, Emily Sweeney, Nick Sweeney and wife Amber, Kaitlin Moose, Kira Moose, Braeden Moose, and Angie Helton; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Carson, Liam, Adeline, and Abi; and her loyal and loving companion dog, Angel.

Doris grew up in West Iredell and attended Celeste Henkel School. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She worked at Home Bakery and spent many years in customer service at Belk. She had a sweet, loving, and giving nature and enjoyed spoiling her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness and warmth.

The funeral for Doris will be held on Sunday, September 22, at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
