Edith Arthurs Benson, 91, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at her daughter’s home.

She was born on April 24, 1932, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late James Marvin Arthurs and Nellie Wilson Arthurs. Mrs. Benson was a graduate of the Lowrance School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Lowrance Hospital in Mooresville and then at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville. She loved her family and spending time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Benson; sister, Polly Davis; and brothers, Jim, Harold, Kenneth, and Jerry Arthurs.

She is survived by her children, Jennifer Kytta (Bob), Susan Smith, Marlina Wyatt, D. Adrian Benson (Paula), and Alan Benson (Angie); sister, Naomi Riddle; sisters-in-law, Dot Arthurs and Debbie Arthurs; grandchildren, Angela, Jason, Brian, Scott, Austin, Audrey, Crystal; and 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with a service following at 12 noon at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd McCullough officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
