Mrs. Janice Mae Fox Ballard, 86, of Statesville, N.C., died Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on November 4, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William Wesley Fox and Janie Miller Fox.

She retired from Hunt-Bienfang and then worked at the Statesville Auto Auction. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, enjoyed vegetable gardening, and spending time with her grandson and great grandson. She graduated from Cool Spring High School and played basketball while there.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy, Kelly, Jim, Jack and Charles Fox; and sisters, Kay Mohler and Carolyn Beatty.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie Larry Ballard; a son, Jeffery Ballard (Patricia), a daughter, Annette F. Tomlin; a brother, Bud Fox (Kay); one grandson, Michael Tomlin; and one great grandson, Harker Tomlin.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, at Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Paul St. Clair officiating. The family greet friends at the cemetery for one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Ballard will lie in state on Tuesday from 12 until 4 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
